Terms of use
The agreement you accept when you use NephTox or create an account. Written to be read, not to be dense.
Not medical advice
NephTox is an educational and research reference about the nephrotoxicity of anti-cancer drugs. It is not medical advice, creates no clinician–patient relationship, and must not be used to diagnose, treat, or make decisions about any real patient. Always verify against current prescribing information and institutional protocols, and rely on the judgment of a qualified clinician. Never enter patient-identifiable information into the site.
Acceptance
By accessing NephTox you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you create an account, you confirm the same at sign-up. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms apply to everyone — you do not need an account to be bound by them while using NephTox.
Educational purpose & accuracy
Content is compiled from the published literature, with incidence and mechanism claims tied to citable sources (almost always PubMed-indexed). Despite that grounding, the site is maintained by a small team and may contain errors, omissions, or out-of-date information. Everything is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind — express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. If you find an error, please use the feedback form.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use NephTox to make clinical decisions for an identifiable patient, or as a substitute for professional judgment.
- Enter protected health information (PHI) or any patient-identifiable data into any tool, form, or saved-content feature.
- Scrape, overload, or attempt to disrupt the service, its APIs, or its rate limits, or circumvent access controls on beta or admin features.
- Misrepresent the content as medical advice or as endorsed by any cited author, journal, or institution.
- Use the site unlawfully, or infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
Accounts
An account is optional and free. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information at sign-up. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from your account page, as described in the privacy policy.
Intellectual property
The NephTox name, site design, original text, figures, and data compilations are the property of NephTox and its maintainers. You may quote and cite the content for education and research with attribution. Underlying facts and third-party citation metadata (e.g. from the U.S. National Library of Medicine) are not owned by us and remain subject to their own terms; the NLM does not endorse this site. The public data API has its own usage documentation.
Third-party links & services
NephTox links to and relays queries to external services — PubMed/NCBI, openFDA, ClinicalTrials.gov, and others (see the privacy policy). We don’t control those services and aren’t responsible for their content or availability. Links and automated literature surfacing are not endorsements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NephTox and its maintainers are not liable for any damages — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content, including any clinical decision informed by it. Because the content is educational and provided without warranty, you use it at your own risk and remain solely responsible for verifying any information before relying on it.
Changes & contact
We may update these terms as the site evolves; material changes will be reflected here with a revision date, and continued use indicates acceptance of the current version. Questions about these terms can be sent through the feedback form. Last updated: July 7, 2026.
